Over the last few years the humble shepherd hut has quietly found favour in gardens up and down the country, but what has made these once forgotten, tin clad buildings so popular with those in the know?
“Buying a shepherd hut is not like buying a shed or a summer house,” explains Glenn of White Peak Shepherd Huts (WPSH). “You are investing in a mobile extension which will last for generations to come and often without the need for planning permission. Also, because our huts are insulated, double glazed and have wood burning stoves installed you can use them regardless of what the weather throws at you; which let’s face it can be just about anything when you live in the Peak District!”
“Shepherd huts are hugely versatile and make great garden offices, art studios and craft rooms as well as super stylish summer houses,” says Josephine (WPSH). “After all, what could be lovelier than watching the garden grow across the stable door of your own shepherd hut?
“For all the people who’d love a shepherd hut but don’t believe they have the space we developed the hugely popular Garden Hut which at 10ft x 6ft is a dinky version of her big sister, the Traditional Hut. We will be exhibiting a Garden Hut at the upcoming International Horse Trial event at Chatsworth in May so people can come along and see the serious cuteness for themselves!”
