Increasingly our gardens have become extensions of our homes as we replace our crumbling sheds with tranquil garden offices, personalised retreats and outdoor dining rooms. What’s more, we want to use our new garden buildings whatever the weather, we want high quality, low maintenance and most importantly we want them to look amazing. A tall order perhaps but White Peak Shepherd Huts (WPSH) ably demonstrated how all of this can be achieved at Chatsworth’s International Horse Trials last month.

“We chose to exhibit two of our Garden Huts as people often tell us that they would love a shepherd hut but don’t believe they have the space,” explains WPSH’s designer, Josephine. “At 10ft x 6ft, our Garden Hut is the little sister to our Traditional Shepherd Hut and is small enough to nestle into a corner of the garden whilst still supplying a surprising amount of internal space.”

“Our clients come to us because they are looking for a building with a sense of history and country style,” says Glenn of WPSH. “All of our huts are fully insulated and with a wood-burning stove they are seriously cosy; they even cope with Peak District winters!”

“Garden Huts make wonderful summer houses and garden offices,” says Josephine, “but can also be used as art studios, music rooms, potting sheds, student hideaways, she sheds and men caves. One gentleman at Chatsworth even requested we build him a shepherd hut to house his library and model railway.”
